Hardwood Floor Care & Maintenance Tips
We DO NOT want you to use a polish, if a polish is used it hinders the ability to apply a maintenance coat.
Hardwood floors are not maintenance free but low maintenance. A Polyurethane or a Urethane finish can be lightly sanded and a new top coat applied as needed depending on how heavy the use is on the flooring.
We recommend cleaning our Polyurethane/Urethane floors with a neutral floor cleaner. Enhance Neutral floor cleaner is a good option and can be purchased in Tulsa at Bewleys Sweeper Service near 15th and Gary. They carry a multitude of cleaning supplies that will be needed. This is a concentrate and needs to be diluted with distilled water per instruction and damp mopped.
How to Move Furniture on Your New Floor?
When moving furniture onto your newly refinished flooring, place felt sticky pads under all legs or feet of furniture. These can be purchased at most hardware stores. Sometimes there will be a hard plastic piece nailed to the bottom of the legs, take this off prior to installing the felt slider.
When Can I Install a Rug?
New pads for area rugs should be allowed to "off gas" prior to installing, especially if it has a petroleum base rubber coating. This can react with the finish and darken the finish over time.
Rugs should not be installed for 4 weeks after floors are finished to allow proper cure time.
